Doc

In Doc’s honor, here’s to a life well lived. He was such a good boy, with a heart that wouldn’t stop loving, but a body that could give no more.
A dog’s love is pure and golden like a ray of sunshine. They want nothing more than to be with you and please you. That kind of unconditional love is a gift.
Doc came into our lives 14 ½ years ago. He was just a wee fur baby with fur so soft and eyes that could melt your soul. His human sister Emma was just two years old and a year later, he welcomed little sister Ava home.
Doc, a black lab, had three fur brothers, Buddy, Jax and Herky, all golden retrievers. Doc was always the leader and a good one too. After Buddy passed away from cancer, Doc was very lonely, so we adopted Jax. This was just what Doc needed. Herky came along a little later and three big dogs meant a lot of food and a lot of poops. Oh, and a lot of love too.
Old Doc taught little Jax many things. To this day Jax still thinks snarling is smiling and growling is a friendly greeting. Doc acted like he didn’t like Jax, but he wholeheartedly tolerated the little red furball.
Doc was a great joy to us during the best years of our lives and a huge comfort during the hardest. He was always hyper as a young dog, but in his later years, he seemed to know when we needed him. He was there with a nudge and a look that said, “pet me, you will feel better. “
Doc was a hunter, a champion in mind and body. Driven to honor his companion at all times. His body was strong, his legs fast and his heart massive. As the strength and speed left his body, his heart continued to get bigger. He was even more eager to please and wanted nothing more than to play fetch for hours.
We have so many wonderful memories. Our hearts are full, but also so very sad. He was and always will be our good boy.
