Things and such…..
Ava’s Acts of Kindness kicked off! My hope is that just a little bit of the kindness we were shown will be reciprocated, even just a little bit. I felt like Ava was with me on this new adventure. She was there rooting me on and smiling down. She would have loved every minute of it! Being sneaky, in a good way, was a favorite of hers! “A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees.” – Amelia Earhart
I also challenged myself to do something I had been avoiding, because I wasn’t sure I could manage my emotions. For example, I hadn’t been to Ava’s school since before she passed away, but I crossed the threshold of the building that Ava attended for 7 years (DK – 5th Grade). I saw a few of the faces that helped mold Ava into the person she was and I DIDN’T CRY. There were a few narrow escapes, but I left with dry eyes and a full heart. Someday I may be able to visit the middle school where her classmates are, but baby steps for this momma.
It’s a wonderful relief to see the sun and feel the warmth of spring, I wish it would stick around longer. I’ve got planting and growing to do. “In the spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt.” –Margaret Atwood Ava’s Butterfly Garden needs some warmer temperatures too. There is a t-shirt fundraiser happening and will be coming to an end soon. I will share more about it on this web page under the #AVASWAY tab.
Another softball tournament has been canceled due to the cold weather and Emma is aching to get on the field. She is gearing up for the spring musical performance next weekend though, so she is keeping busy. I can’t wait to see the performance of “Little Shop of Horrors”. The kids have been working hard for many weeks now. Be sure to check it out if you are in the area.
I made a wreath for the cemetery and took it up there today. My favorite part of this wreath is that I saved the bows and ribbons from past “Ava” events, so they hold special meaning. I am sure she would love it! It’s pink, purple and sparkly. I added some flowers and butterflies too because you can’t over accessorize when it comes to Ava. On a shopping adventure with a good friend, we discovered that flamingos are populating and repopulating everywhere! It’s flamingo madness this spring, so I added another Flamingo at the cemetery too. It’s quite lovely in her little corner of the world. Pinkatastic! “Be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons”
And… that sums up the bigger of the things and such in my life. Till tomorrow my friends, take care and good night.

I remember how nervous Ava was to go to school at the beginning of 5 th grade but she courageously crossed that threshold, just like you did yesterday! Ava would have been so proud of you! Thank you for stopping in to see me!
