Another Monday

September 11, 2017, was Ava’s last Monday. There have been 30 Mondays since she passed away. Every day I wake up and miss her all over again, but Mondays are particularly hard. It is dreadfully quite with Kris and Emma out of the house. It feels like it has been dreary every single Monday too. Likely, it has not, but sometimes when the wind is howling, I wish it would just pick me up and take me to a place where sadness no longer exists. The sadness is particularly heavy in my heart knowing that the weeks between us just keep adding up. The days turn into weeks, the weeks turn into months, and here I am clinging desperately to the fading memories.

In order to make the days count I have been seeking ways to honor Ava, so this week on the seven-month anniversary of her passing I will be launching Ava’s Acts of Kindness. Every month on or around the 11th day of the month, eleven acts of kindness will be done in her honor. They will be small, but I hope the smiles they bring will be big. “No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted.” –Aesop

Speaking of acts of kindness, St Baldrick’s in Bondurant was a success again! It’s not too late to donate though, just click here. The barn was packed and rocking all night! I was able to share a little on KCCI news and spoke a few words at the event too. I was choking back tears, but it felt good to speak in Ava’s honor. I cannot thank the volunteers and donors enough for all their efforts. It takes a lot of work to put on an event like this and they do it with open arms and huge hearts year after year.

I don’t think your memories will ever fade of Ava. They’ll just keep getting more precious.
    Sending lots of love. ?
